Day overview

Day 1

Depart from Surabaya or Denpasar for a 4 to 6-hour drive to Baluran National Park. Settle into your cabin and explore the park’s wildlife and landscapes. Spend the night in the park, allowing for a short night safari and possible wildlife encounters.

Day 2

Start the day early in Baluran National Park to see more wildlife. After lunch, drive to Kawah Ijen, ascending from sea level to 1,870 meters in 3 hours. Spend the night at the campsite near the start gate for an early hike to the Ijen crater.

Day 3

Wake up around 4 am for coffee or tea and a small breakfast before starting a 2 to 3-hour hike to the crater rim. Descend into the crater to see the blue fire, which takes an additional hour round trip. After experiencing this natural wonder, hike back to the campsite and drive back to Denpasar or Surabaya.
